Consultant to support development of Essential Care Packages for integration of Mental Health and Neglected Tropical Disease services

Background and Purpose:

It has been long recognised by those working in Neglected Tropical Diseases that mental health and wellbeing are central concerns of those affected. Some civil society organisations have incorporated considerations for wellbeing into their work for a several years. In the last decade, this has started to be incorporated into a research agenda, and more recently, into global normative guidance. The WHO NTD Roadmap 2021-2030 includes recommendations for incorporation of support for mental health for people affected. The WHO also published a guide on Mental Health and Neglected Tropical Diseases in 2020.

Who we’re looking for:

The consultant will work with the CBM Global Inclusive Eye Health and Community Mental Health Thematic Areas, and as part of an overall process, guided by the broader NNN Mental Wellbeing & Stigma working group, and in liaison with WHO Mental Health and NTD departments, to support in the development of Essential Care Packages for mental health in NTD work. This is strongly linked also to understanding how mental health can be incorporated fully into Universal Health Coverage, and the Compendium of interventions that WHO is compiling.

This piece of work is to be delivered within an expected total of 30 days’ work, between October and December 2021.

The consultant shall produce an initial framework for approval within a month of starting, before developing the main output of an Essential Care Package (5 – 10 pages) by the end date of the consultancy.

A competitive daily rate for the consultancy will be agreed based on reasonable rates for the level of experience and proven abilities of the consultant.
