Strengthening advisory capacity in the PNG Disability Community

Project | April 16, 2026

PNG Advisor Capacity Development & Exchange (ACE)

Partnering with Australia Awards Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the PNG Assembly of Disabled Persons, CBM Global’s Inclusion Advisory Group is supporting people with disabilities to advance equity and rights through practical, high-quality technical advice in PNG.

Built on IAG’s established ACE model, the programme has been localised through consultations in PNG and will keep adapting as needs emerge.

Why now?

The work aligns with the PNGADP Strategic Plan, the PNG Disability Services Bill (2025), and Australia Awards research on the experience of alumni with disability.

What we’re working towards:

Stronger employment pathways for persons with disabilities; and more opportunities for the disability community to influence policy and practice through advisory work.

How it works

Stage 1: Introductory workshop

A week-long, in-person workshop bringing together selected Australia Awards alumni and PNGADP Board members to build shared foundations and practical advisory skills.

Stage 2: Fellowship

A supported learning journey for a subset of participants, including webinars, mentors, learning goals, on-the-job learning opportunities, and a learning portfolio.

We are excited to be working with a range of government and non-government partners to support their efforts towards disability equity and rights in PNG, through supporting Fellows to provide technical assistance packages to them through the on the job learning element of the fellowship.
