Climate Investment Funds
Project | March 19, 2025
Since May 2023, IAG has been working with Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub) to support the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) advance disability inclusion in climate finance.
Together, we have developed resources for CIF’s multilateral development bank partners on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in three key climate action sectors: climate-smart cities, just energy transition, and nature-based solutions.
The resources, which include briefing notes and workshop materials, are based on expert knowledge and practical examples collected through consultations with specialists from academia, donors and development banks, as well as civil society, including the disability movement.
As well as generating, collating, and presenting knowledge, the project has created valuable opportunities for dialogue between climate finance experts, such as CIF, and actors working at the intersection of climate and disability inclusion. These include organisations of persons with disabilities, such as the European Disability Forum and the World Blind Union, and other key stakeholders, such as the Global Action on Disability (GLAD) Network and the UN Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (PRPD).
These interactions are essential to build the mutual understanding and meaningful partnerships required to ensure that persons with disabilities are included in climate action.
About our partners
CIF was established in 2008 to mobilize resources and trigger investments for low carbon, climate resilient development in select middle and low income countries. It is one of the largest active climate finance mechanisms in the world.
GDI Hub is a multi-disciplinary research and practice centre driving disability innovation for a fairer world. Their expertise includes climate and crisis resilience, assistive and accessible technology, inclusive design, inclusive education, financial inclusion, and population health.
