“I’m a passionate change maker committed to social justice, powerful partnerships, driving impact and inspiring action through storytelling. I’ve spent most of my career in aid and development and have never seen anything more compelling than CBM Global’s work. As CEO of CBM Australia, I collaborate with colleagues and partners on both proven and innovative approaches that see millions of lives transformed each year in a growing movement to end the cycle of poverty and disability. Our focus on authentic partnership, rebalancing power and effectively combining our field programs, advisory and advocacy underpins this vital work.”

Dualta Roughneen
Ireland

“I am an engineer by qualification and worked on water programmes in Afghanistan, North Korea, Sudan and Liberia, before studying human rights and working in management roles in the not-for-profit sector in Ireland since 2009. After 20 years working in international development and humanitarian action, I joined CBM Ireland as CEO in 2023 and became part of the leadership team of CBM Global. CBM Global’s three-way mode of working offers the opportunity to bring multiple perspectives to our work while maximising efficiency, but at the same time ensuring that the perspective of our Country Teams who work in partnership with organisations led by people with disabilities is front and centre, which is vital for impactful programmes.”

“I have over 15 years of experience designing, implementing, and monitoring development projects that promote inclusion and human rights. I have also been in management positions – leading and providing strategic leadership on advocacy, programme cycle management, organizational strengthening, building authentic partnerships, and providing advisory support on inclusion. I am enthusiastic about working together with the most marginalised to bring about positive change.”

“I have been lucky enough to spend my whole career working alongside inspiring and dynamic local civil society organisations to bring about structural change in their communities. Since joining CBM UK, I have really enjoyed focusing more intentionally on disability inclusion, promoting broad, systemic change that promotes disability rights, and supporting others to put inclusion into practice. CBM Global’s breadth of technical expertise, focus on authentic partnership and drive towards localisation, set us apart as an organisation that believes in putting our partners and their communities in the forefront of our efforts to bring about a fairer world.”

Murray Sheard
New Zealand

“I have been the CEO of CBM New Zealand since 2018, moving from Tearfund NZ where I led the team that brought the Ethical Fashion Guide and the Justice Conference to New Zealand. My international roles have included anti-corruption and grass-roots community development, working from London and Jerusalem. Our federation makes us stronger. Not only can we achieve things at scale, but we learn from each other, learn to work together, and make better decisions – drawing on multiple voices from across the globe. I’m proud that CBM Global wants to live our values, seeking to make sure we have authentic partnerships where people with disabilities take centre stage – and that we are asking the tough questions about how to shift power to the people we serve.”

Anja Ebnöther
Switzerland

“My first international steps after my law studies were with the Swiss Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports on international security policy issues. As a Directing Board member of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance for 16 years, I built the department on «Gender and Security», dealing with sexual violence and abuse of women in conflict and post-conflict situations. I was convinced that we can make a difference working with people on strengthening understanding of including men and women equally in shaping their own future, advocating change in order to have systems in place to make all voices heard and in developing capacities of training-of-trainers. My time in leading the International Cooperation Department of Caritas Switzerland sharpened my knowledge of the nexus of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding efforts. After a detour as Head of Administration of a Swiss cantonal capital city I discovered CBM’s work and was quickly drawn back into the work of an internationally acting NGO. The Federation structure appeals to me, as it gives all of us much more operational leverage and advocating opportunities to focusing even more on disability inclusion.”
