Celebrating Leadership in Disability Inclusion: Kirsty Smith, CBM UK Chief Exec, Honoured with OBE

CBM Global warmly congratulates Kirsty Smith, Chief Executive of CBM UK, on being awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours. This prestigious recognition reflects her outstanding contributions to the rights, health, and inclusion of people with disabilities around the world.

Kirsty’s career spans more than 25 years in international development, with a strong focus on disability inclusion, equitable health systems, and breaking down structural barriers in lower-income settings. Her leadership has strengthened the global disability movement and advanced tangible, lasting change that is inclusive, accessible, and community-driven.
As a Federation, CBM Global has witnessed the direct impact of Kirsty’s vision and collaboration. Through her advocacy and partnership, programmes across the organisation have become more participatory, locally led, and transformative. Under her leadership, CBM UK has supported initiatives that restore sight, improve mental health care, and promote sustainable livelihoods, while amplifying the voices of people with disabilities in global development and humanitarian spaces.
