SeeYou Foundation and CBM Global deepen their partnership

CBM Global Disability Inclusion and SeeYou Foundation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise their partnership.  Both organisations have a shared vision of an inclusive world in which all people with disabilities can enjoy their human rights and achieve their full potential.

CBM Global is a Federation working alongside people with disabilities living in the world’s poorest places to fight poverty and exclusion, transform lives and build inclusive communities. CBM Global is partnership based, working in authentic partnership with the disability movement and maximising impact by delivering a combination of inclusive community-based programmes, advocacy for national and global policy change and inclusion advice to other organisations.

SeeYou Foundation is a Dutch disability and development non-governmental organisation committed to people with (visual) disabilities. SeeYou was founded as Dark & Light Blindcare in 1982. People with disabilities living in poverty are at the centre of SeeYou’s work, and they drive the change to a world in which people with visual impairment and other disabilities are seen, respected and exercise their rights.

The MoU covers a range of areas of collaboration including work on disability rights and advocacy, empowering people with disabilities and strengthening Organisations of Persons with Disabilities; promotion of disability inclusion in development and humanitarian action; inclusive eye health, strengthening national eye health systems, improving access to comprehensive inclusive eye health services; and resource mobilisation through joint activities.

Dicky Nieuwenhuis, Executive Director of SeeYou states:

“I am delighted to join forces with CBM Global. The challenge to contribute to disability-inclusive societies in the Global South is extensive and complex. SeeYou is very happy to join hands with CBM Global in our fight for a world where everyone is welcome, including people with disabilities.”

David Bainbridge, Executive Director of CBM Global states:

“I am so excited by this collaboration with SeeYou – we are like minded with shared values and approaches, including a shared commitment to supporting the central role of Organisations of Persons with Disabilities in our work to effect change and to the shifting of power and decision making to the local level. I look forward to all the new opportunities that our collaboration offers.”
